South Africa crushed Italy 66-7 on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in Turin during the Nations Championship, scoring nine tries ahead of their next match against France in Paris.
The Springboks took control from the first half by scoring six tries to lead 45-0 at halftime. Fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu opened the scoring and accumulated 21 points through his try, a penalty, and nine successful conversions.
Malcolm Marx scored twice before halftime, while Morné van den Berg, captain Siya Kolisi, and Damian Willemse also crossed the Italian line. South Africa benefited from the power of its driving mauls and several bursts through the opposing defense.
Wilco Louw, Paul de Villiers, and Ethan Hooker added three tries after the break. Italy avoided finishing without points thanks to Federico Ruzza, whose try was converted by Tommaso Allan.
Deprived notably of its captain Michele Lamaro as well as centres Tommaso Menoncello and Juan Ignacio Brex, the Italian team suffered its fourth defeat in the competition. It will then host Argentina in Genoa followed by Fiji in Udine.
This victory represents the largest South African win on Italian soil. The previous all-time record between the two teams remains the 101-0 inflicted by the Springboks in 1999.
South Africa now has four wins in four matches in the Nations Championship. However, coach Rassie Erasmus pointed out the mistakes made in the second half after a first half that was largely dominated.
The Springboks will face France on Friday, November 13 in Paris before traveling to Dublin to play against Ireland eight days later.
