Gadji Céli celebrated his forty years of musical career on Saturday, October 31, in Abidjan during a concert at the Exhibition Park, where he reunited with his audience alongside Ismaël Isaac and Nesly among the invited artists.
The show titled L’Apothéose was sold out, according to the report published on Sunday by Abidjan.net. The Ivorian singer made three appearances on stage, performing several songs from his repertoire before an audience that sang along in chorus.
Ismaël Isaac and Nesly joined Gadji Céli during the evening for joint performances. Their presence had been announced during the concert preparations, presented as the final event of the anniversary celebration.
The Ivorian Ministry of Culture had confirmed the date and location of the event after receiving the artist on October 28. It had also indicated that this concert followed King en Fête, held on April 4 at the Bernard Binlin-Dadié Palace of Culture.
Before his music career, Gadji Céli wore the captain’s armband for the Elephants. He was part of the Ivorian team crowned African champions in 1992, a journey recalled by the ministry ahead of the concert.
This dual trajectory accompanied the programming of L’Apothéose, designed around the songs that marked the different periods of his career. The organizers had announced about twenty titles to trace this journey.
The concert on October 31 at the Parc des Expositions marked the final event of the celebration that began on April 4 at the Bernard Binlin-Dadié Palace of Culture.
