Didier Drogba is scheduled to participate on Friday, November 6, 2026, in Lagos at CANEX WKND 2026 for a discussion dedicated to the business of African sports alongside former Nigerian international Jay-Jay Okocha, the organizers announced.
The session will focus on athlete training, career management, and the marketing of sport in Africa. It is part of a program that presents sport as a component of the creative economy and aims to bring together industry professionals and investors.
The CANEX WKND takes place from November 5 to 8 at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts. The event is organized by Afreximbank in partnership with the Nigerian government, the African Union Commission, and the secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
The discussions also cover cinema, television, music, fashion, publishing, gastronomy, and visual arts. The organizers have planned professional meetings dedicated to financing, intellectual property, technologies, skills development, and market access.
A negotiation space connects project holders with financiers and investors. Participants can also use the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System to make cross-border payments in African currencies, according to the event’s website.
The previous edition, held in 2024 in Algiers, brought together 108 exhibitors and nearly 4,000 participants from 81 countries, according to the African Union. The organizers announced more than 540 million dollars in agreements and commitments concluded on that occasion.
The Lagos program is set to conclude on Sunday, November 8, with a legends match at Onikan Stadium.
