Zimbabwe secured the comeback of the evening in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. Trailing 2-0 at halftime against Sierra Leone, the Warriors scored three times in the final eighteen minutes to win 3-2 on Thursday, September 24.
Sierra Leone had nevertheless taken a clear lead thanks to Alie Conteh, who scored in the 7th minute, followed by Sallieu Tarawallie in the 27th. The Leone Stars maintained this advantage until the final quarter of the match.
Marshall Munetsi revived Zimbabwe in the 72nd minute. Four minutes later, Tawanda Chirewa equalized, turning around a match that had until then been controlled by Sierra Leone.
Munetsi completed the comeback in the 88th minute with his second goal of the evening. The Zimbabwean midfielder thus secured three points for the Warriors after a completely overturned second half.
