The Ivorian U15 team was defeated 2-1 by Argentina on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Hövsan complex in Baku, after having dominated Kyrgyzstan 4-0 a few hours earlier in Group B of the FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival.
The Argentine Football Association credited the two goals for its team to Renzo Gonella and Elías Torres. This victory allows Argentina to continue its journey in Group B, reserved for teams ranked second in their group at the end of the first phase.
The Elephanteaux opened their day with a clear victory against Kyrgyzstan. Dramane Diarrassouba scored in the 8th minute, followed by goals from Cheick Berté in the 13th, Trésor Bilé in the 16th, and Marc-Pharel Okoma in the 36th.
This record of one victory and one defeat in the same day comes after a first round largely favorable to the young Ivorians. They had won their first four matches before losing 2-0 against Albania, a result that placed them second in their group and sent them to level B.
Ivory Coast had successively beaten Rwanda 5-0, the Turks and Caicos Islands 6-0, Vanuatu 11-0, and Mauritania 5-0. They had thus scored 27 goals without conceding any before their final group match against Albania.
The experimental competition brings together 189 FIFA member associations and is played eight-a-side on reduced-size pitches. Each match consists of two 20-minute halves, a format that allows for nearly 1,000 matches to be held during the week.
FIFA has divided the teams into six tiers after the group stage, with tier A being the only one to determine the main champion. However, all teams must continue to play classification matches until the final day of the tournament, scheduled for Friday, October 30.
