On Thursday, October 15, 2026, Côte d’Ivoire and Italy highlighted a fund of 639 million euros, approximately 420 billion CFA francs, intended to support development projects within the framework of the Mattei Plan for Africa. The amount was announced by Minister of State Nialé Kaba during the first Forum on Italian investments in Côte d’Ivoire.
Funding must support projects in energy, agriculture, agro-industry, water, and infrastructure. The Ivorian authorities want to align them with the priorities of the 2026-2030 National Development Plan, which serves as a framework for public investments and partnerships with the private sector.
The forum was organized by TEHA Group in collaboration with the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in Italy. Nialé Kaba presided over its opening on behalf of Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, in the presence notably of the ministers responsible for Agriculture and Commerce as well as representatives of businesses and financial institutions.
After the work, Robert Beugré Mambé received a delegation led by the Italian ambassador Roberta Di Lecce. The diplomat indicated that the discussions aimed to align Ivorian priorities with Italian resources in order to foster concrete investments.
The envelope of 639 million euros is not a decision made solely during the forum. The Ivorian presidency had announced in March 2026 its approval by the Italian government, following the second Italy-Africa summit held on February 13. The Abidjan meeting therefore mainly served to specify the sectors of intervention and to connect economic actors.
The Italian public bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti now has an office in Abidjan to support the private sector, food security, and infrastructure. It is already involved in co-financing an agropole in the north of the country, while other avenues have been explored in the field of climate.
The Ivorian Ministry of Agriculture estimates that the sector accounts for approximately 20 percent of the gross domestic product, 40 percent of export revenues, and half of employment. It has identified storage, logistics, local processing, access to financing, and market access as the main obstacles, and plans nine integrated agropoles to connect production areas with processing units.
The Italian delegation requested the support of the head of government to convert the forum’s discussions into projects. No detailed disbursement schedule or complete list of operations financed by the fund has been made public following the announcements reviewed.
