Ivory Coast aims to make beekeeping an additional lever for diversifying its agricultural economy, with the goal of further structuring honey production, developing local processing, and creating new sources of income in rural areas.
This approach was highlighted by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Handicrafts during a meeting dedicated to the development of the beekeeping sector.

The challenge is not limited to increasing the number of beehives. The authorities aim to strengthen the organization of producers, improve product quality, develop packaging and processing, and facilitate market access.
The sector can also produce wax, propolis, and other derivatives used in food, cosmetics, and certain artisanal activities. Its structuring would therefore make it possible to create more value around a production still largely carried out by small-scale operators.
The ministry also highlights the environmental benefits of beekeeping. Bees play a role in crop pollination and the maintenance of biodiversity, which helps to link economic development with ecosystem protection.
The strategy is part of the Ivorian desire to diversify an agricultural economy still heavily dominated by a few major export crops and to increase the local processing of products.
