The second ordinary session of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire opened on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Abidjan. The deputies are expected to examine the state budget project for 2027, while continuing their work on overseeing public action.
This budget session must also include considerations on the modernization of parliamentary work and the institution’s adoption of artificial intelligence, according to the guidelines presented at the opening.
The budget at the heart of the session
In accordance with the Constitution, Parliament is presented with the draft finance bill before the end of the ordinary session. The examination of the budget traditionally constitutes one of the main tasks of the second session of the year.
Beyond public finances, the announced work focuses on monitoring public policies and adapting the National Assembly’s working methods to technological developments.
Artificial intelligence is thus presented as a tool to be studied within the framework of the institution’s modernization, without a specific usage plan having been publicly detailed yet.
