Ivory Coast is expanding its National Traceability System (SNT) for the 2026-2027 coffee-cocoa campaign, with the aim of guaranteeing the origin of the beans sold and meeting, in particular, the demands of consumer markets regarding deforestation.
In Gagnoa, the Coffee-Cocoa Council presented on Thursday, October 1, the three central elements of the system: the producer card, electronic payment terminals (EPT), and seals used to ensure product tracking.
Transactions must go through the SNT
According to Coulibaly Whatami Vamoussa, Director of Statistics, Industrialization, and Foresight of the Council, transactions must now be carried out exclusively through this system. Registered producers who have not yet received their card are encouraged to contact the regional delegations.
The system must be able to demonstrate that Ivorian cocoa and coffee do not come from deforested areas, particularly protected areas and classified forests. It must also secure marketing operations and contribute to compliance with the farm-gate price.
For the current campaign, cocoa is set at 1,200 FCFA per kilogram and coffee at 1,300 FCFA. The main campaign now runs from September 1 to the end of February, followed by an intermediate campaign from March 1 to August 31.
