Yamoussoukro FC maintained its unbeaten record in the Ivorian Ligue 1 by securing a 1-1 draw against Stella Club d’Adjamé on Sunday, October 11, at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium in Ebimpé, during the third matchday.
Stella opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Diarrassouba. Yamoussoukro FC responded before halftime thanks to Gbakagnan Jonathan, who scored the equalizer in the 45th minute.
Neither team was able to gain the advantage in the second half. The draw thus confirmed Yamoussoukro FC’s strong start, while leaving Stella still in search of their first victory of the season.
The club from the political capital has seven points after three matches. It started by beating ASEC Mimosas 1-0 at home on September 26, before winning 2-0 on the field of Mouna FC on October 6.
Yamoussoukro FC has thus scored four goals and conceded only one since the start of the championship. The goal conceded against Stella is the first of their season, following two matches without conceding.
For Stella, this result marks a second consecutive draw following the 0-0 obtained against ASEC. The Magnans had lost their first match 2-1 against the Army Sports Society.
The third matchday is set to continue with the other fixtures scheduled in the Ligue 1 calendar. Yamoussoukro FC approaches the remainder of the championship undefeated, with two wins and one draw.
