Ivorian deputies adopted on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in Abidjan the schedule for the second ordinary session of the National Assembly, which includes the review of twelve bills by December 31 as well as three briefing sessions.
The program includes four ordinary bills and eight texts concerning the ratification of ordinances. Among the ordinary texts are the State budget regulation for the 2025 fiscal year and the finance bill relating to the 2027 budget.
Parliamentary groups must review the various bills from October 22 to November 3 before their passage in plenary session. The schedule was approved without opposition by the deputies present, following the meeting of the Conference of Presidents held the previous day.
The President of the National Assembly, Patrick Achi, indicated that the program remains subject to the consideration of the observations made during the session. One of these concerns the possible inclusion of the draft law relating to the Penal Code.
The three scheduled information sessions concern the Mediator of the Republic, the Court of Auditors, and the National Human Rights Council. They are intended to allow deputies to obtain clarifications on the functioning and activities of these institutions.
Five bills submitted by deputies were also announced. The first notably concerns coordinated urban planning, risk prevention, protection of affected populations, the elimination of substandard housing, and the development of social housing, while four others were presented on behalf of the PDCI-RDA parliamentary group.
The eviction operations have also fueled discussions. Elected officials have requested debates on the rehousing, compensation, and social support for those affected by the operations carried out in 2024 and 2025, as well as those that took place in Koumassi Campement on June 3. These requests have been forwarded to the President of the Republic in accordance with the internal regulations of the National Assembly.
