Students of EPP BAD in Koumassi are requesting that the classrooms still occupied by evicted families be vacated to allow the normal continuation of classes, according to information published this week by KOACI.
The situation originates from the eviction of Koumassi Campement, which took place in early June. Several families without an immediate rehousing solution had taken refuge in the school.
At the end of August, Fraternité Matin still reported the presence of 155 disaster victims within the premises of EPP BAD 1, mainly women and children. As the September 14 school reopening approached, the issue of their relocation remained without a definitive solution.
Humanitarian actions have been organized since June. The Ivorian Press Agency notably reported the distribution of aid and the announcement of school kits for children affected by the demolitions.
With the school year now underway, students are demanding access to classrooms designated for instruction. The families involved, for their part, continue to face the issue of relocation.
