The State General Inspectorate (IGE) launched a specialized training in public procurement auditing in Abidjan aimed at strengthening the capacities of its inspectors, controllers, and auditors responsible for overseeing public action.
The session, opened on September 30 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, aims to enable participants to better master the procedures for awarding, executing, and monitoring public contracts, as well as the main risks of irregularities.

The objective is to strengthen the capacity of the IGE to identify irregularities in public contracts, to assess compliance with competition rules, and to monitor the use of state resources.
Public procurement represents a significant portion of public expenditure and involves risks related to procedures, timelines, costs, and the execution of services. Training must therefore provide agents with tools to conduct more thorough and better-documented audits.
The initiative comes in the context of modernizing Ivorian mechanisms for financial control and governance. Several institutions are already involved in monitoring public procurement, notably the National Authority for the Regulation of Public Procurement and budgetary control bodies.
The strengthening of the IGE’s skills must complement this system by improving post-audit controls and the evaluation of the compliance of public operations.
