The PDCI-RDA conditions the return to Côte d’Ivoire of its president, Tidjane Thiam, on obtaining guarantees deemed sufficient for his security, said its spokesperson, Soumaïla Brédoumy, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, during a press conference in Abidjan.
According to the party official, the concerns are not only about the state’s security measures but also about potential threats from actors outside the institutions. He states that Tidjane Thiam would return to the country quickly if these assurances were obtained.
The PDCI also indicated that it submitted to the Ministry of the Interior, on September 26, a document of proposals on the future electoral framework following the dissolution of the Independent Electoral Commission in May 2026.
Soumaïla Brédoumy also assured that the PDCI was not in conflict with Laurent Gbagbo’s PPA-CI and that each party was pursuing its own political strategy.
The next stage of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the PDCI-RDA is announced to take place in Guiglo on November 21, 2026.
