Ivory Coast aims to strengthen the role of cultural and creative industries in the economic development of its regions. The Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Françoise Remarck, advocated this approach on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Abidjan, during the closing of the 7th edition of Connect Côte d’Ivoire.
Speaking during a panel dedicated to the “orange economy” and territorial development, the minister called for better structuring of the sector, investment in creation, and strengthening the protection of works so that heritage and creativity generate more businesses, jobs, and income.
According to the data presented during the meeting, Côte d’Ivoire has more than 300 tangible and intangible heritage assets and elements inventoried, as well as over 700 heritage festivals. The government aims to transform this cultural foundation into a sustainable economic activity, particularly in the regions.

Françoise Remarck linked this strategy to the 2026-2030 National Development Plan and the “Côte d’Ivoire Orange 2035” initiative, which aims to make the country a benchmark hub for cultural and creative industries.
The UNDP Resident Representative in Côte d’Ivoire, Blerta Cela, also emphasized the economic potential of sectors such as textiles, crafts, music, gastronomy, cinema, and the arts. The 7th edition of Connect Côte d’Ivoire was held under the theme “Revealing Territories, Connecting Opportunities.”
