Ivory Coast and Senegal aim to make operational before the end of 2026 the joint committee responsible for monitoring and evaluating the decisions of their High Joint Commission for Cooperation. This objective was set on Monday, October 19, in Abidjan during a meeting between Prime Ministers Robert Beugré Mambé and Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô.

The head of the Senegalese government announced the establishment of a monitoring system for bilateral commitments. He requested that each agreement be accompanied by specific objectives, deadlines for implementation, and regular oversight in order to turn the commitments made by the two countries into concrete achievements.

Robert Beugré Mambé supported this approach, stating that the agreements reached must produce tangible results for the populations. The two officials called on the relevant administrations to accelerate the implementation of decisions already adopted and to better assess the effects of joint projects.

Trade exchanges reached 285.72 billion CFA francs in 2025, according to data provided by the Ivorian Prime Minister’s Office ahead of the visit. Exports from Côte d’Ivoire to Senegal accounted for 193.53 billion CFA francs, while both governments still consider the overall level of trade insufficient given the potential of their economies.

The meeting is part of the continuation of the twelve agreements signed in August 2025. These notably cover trade, agriculture, fishing, fishery resources, and higher education. Abidjan and Dakar also aim to align the Ivorian National Development Plan 2026-2030 with Senegal’s Development Strategy 2025-2029 to promote investment and employment.

The two Prime Ministers identified agriculture, food sovereignty, energy, infrastructure, industry, trade, education, vocational training, and digital technology as priority sectors. Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô also urged Ivorian and Senegalese companies to increase their investments in structural projects.

The discussions finally focused on the fight against terrorism, violent extremism, and organized transnational crime, as well as on monetary integration and climate resilience. Senegal also presented the preparations for the Dakar Youth Olympic Games, scheduled from October 31 to November 13, 2026.
