Ivory Coast aims to accelerate the digital transformation of its tourism sector by relying more on artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and data. This direction was highlighted by the Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Siandou Fofana, on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2026.

The Ivorian sector welcomed more than 6.7 million visitors in 2025, according to figures presented by the ministry. After several years dedicated to developing the offer and infrastructure, the authorities now aim to improve the traveler experience and the destination’s competitiveness through digital tools.

The stated objective is to make Côte d’Ivoire a “smart destination,” capable of using data to better guide visitors, promote sites, and tailor the tourism offer.

This approach extends several initiatives already underway, notably e-tourism administration, e-tourism platforms, and the national tourism information system.

The government also hopes that this shift will benefit startups, SMEs, and young Ivorian tech companies, in order to integrate more local players into the tourism value chain.
