The National Institute for the Training of Health Workers opened on Monday, October 12, 2026, in Yamoussoukro a two-day workshop dedicated to the assessment of the first pre-employment qualification internship. The evaluation concerns a cohort of state-certified graduates in nursing, midwifery, and obstetrics who are set to join healthcare facilities.
The Director General of INFAS, Professor Ndaz Méliane Sanogo, stated that the work was intended to assess the integration and progress of the trainees in their host institutions. The participants must also identify the achievements, the difficulties encountered, and the practices to be retained for future cohorts.
Supervision occupies a central place in this evaluation. INFAS aims to assess how supervisors convey professional practices, support recent graduates, and evaluate their ability to work in direct contact with patients.
The program is presented as a bridge between obtaining the state diploma and entering professional life. It is intended to allow new nurses, midwives, and obstetricians to strengthen their practical knowledge and interpersonal skills before taking on a permanent position.
The representative of the prefect of Yamoussoukro, Coulibaly Gando, called for strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Health, INFAS, healthcare facilities, local authorities, and partners. The expected recommendations should focus on reception conditions, available resources, and the quality of trainee supervision.
INFAS cited the French Development Agency, Expertise France, and partner organizations among the supporters of the program. A previous feedback session held in August in Yamoussoukro had already made it possible to analyze the supervision missions carried out in the Regional Centers of Excellence in Health.
The institute’s IT portal maintains a dedicated space for the 2026 cohort as well as for internship completion certificates. No comprehensive numerical report on the number of interns involved or their integration rate had yet been made public at the opening of the workshop.
