The Ministry of Communication established on Friday, October 9, in Gagnoa, a six-member committee responsible for the integrity of information in the Gôh region. The body is tasked with monitoring, alerting, and raising awareness as part of the national program En ligne tous responsables.
The committee is chaired by the regional prefect. Its permanent secretariat is entrusted to the head of the regional office of the Ivorian Press Agency in Gagnoa, according to the composition announced after the ceremony.
The ministry presents the system as an information and educational tool, not as a censorship body. Members are specifically tasked with helping users verify the origin of content and adopt safer practices on social networks.
The installation was accompanied by a poster campaign, a radio broadcast, and a workshop dedicated to fact-checking and regulation. This training was led by Cédric Cissé, a lecturer at the African Graduate School of Information and Communication Technologies.
Évelyne Kouamé Kodjo, Director of New Media Development, stated that the annual number of complaints received in the fight against cybercrime had increased from fewer than 2,000 at the beginning of the campaigns to more than 17,000 in 2026. She attributes this rise to users’ better awareness of available remedies.
A work platform must enable the committee to hold weekly online meetings during its first month, before transitioning to a monthly in-person schedule. The ministry ultimately plans to establish a committee in each of the 31 regions as well as in the two autonomous districts of the country.
