Ivory Coast is participating in the 142nd regular session of the International Coffee Council, held from September 28 to 30, 2026, in Geneva, with a delegation led by Ambassador Aly Touré, the country’s permanent representative to international commodity organizations.
The Ivorian delegation notably includes representatives from the ministries responsible for Trade, Industry, Handicrafts, Agriculture, and Rural Development.
Budget, governance, and markets on the agenda
The work must notably examine the 2026-2027 budget of the International Coffee Organization, the election of its next executive director, and the future of the institution’s premises.
Aly Touré must also present to the Council the work of the joint committee dedicated to the promotion and development of markets, transparency, statistics, studies, projects, sustainable development, and the financing of the coffee sector.
The OIC brings together 42 exporting countries and 29 importing countries. For Côte d’Ivoire, this meeting takes place at the start of the 2026-2027 coffee-cocoa season, with a farm-gate price for coffee set at 1,300 FCFA per kilogram.
The country is simultaneously seeking to strengthen the local processing of coffee and to better promote national production, in a context of high volatility in international agricultural markets.
The Geneva session is scheduled to conclude on September 30 with the Council’s decisions on the main institutional and budgetary matters on the agenda.
