At least seven people were killed and 112 injured on Sunday, November 8, in the collision of two passenger trains in Al-Ayyat, in the Egyptian province of Giza, south of Cairo, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n
Train 134 traveling from Giza to Fayoum collided with the rear of train 2010, which was traveling from Cairo to Aswan, between the Kafr Ammar and Al-Raqqa stations. Several carriages derailed due to the force of the impact.<\/p>\n
Rescue services deployed 72 ambulances to evacuate the victims to the hospitals of Al-Wasta, Al-Ayyat, and Atfih. The Ministry of Health stated that 45 injured individuals had already been discharged from the hospital after receiving the necessary care.<\/p>\n
Egyptian Railways have dispatched technical teams and cranes to clear the tracks. Buses have been deployed between several stations to transport passengers, while those opting not to travel can request a refund for their ticket.<\/p>\n
President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi has ordered a swift investigation and requested that any potential negligence be punished. The prosecutor’s office has formed a technical commission tasked with examining the damaged vehicles, the railway track, and the operating procedures.<\/p>\n
