The Ivorian Minister of Agriculture, Bruno Nabagn\u00e9 Kon\u00e9, called on Friday, November 6, in Abidjan, for processors, buyers, trackers, and producers of natural rubber to apply the official price of 578 FCFA per kilogram and the marketing rules intended to protect the remuneration of planters.<\/p>\n
This request was made during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Association of Natural Rubber Professionals of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, held alongside the second edition of the Natural Rubber Days at the Sofitel Abidjan H\u00f4tel Ivoire. The November price, announced by APROMAC on November 1, represents an increase of 52 FCFA compared to October.<\/p>\n
The minister emphasized the accuracy of weighings and the fair remuneration of producers’ work. He called for the implementation of the decisions of the Rubber, Oil Palm, and Coconut Council, the authority responsible for regulating the sector.<\/p>\n
The current mechanism for setting the price of wet rubber stems from an interprofessional agreement signed on February 16, 2026. Presented by the regulator at the launch of the rubber season, it came into effect on May 1 to make transactions more transparent and to increase the share allocated to small producers.<\/p>\n
Bruno Kon\u00e9 also warned against the bleeding of immature trees and the degradation of the quality of cup lumps. According to him, these practices weaken the productivity of plantations and the reputation of Ivorian rubber on international markets.<\/p>\n
Ivory Coast exported nearly two million tonnes of natural rubber in 2025, with a value of approximately 1,900 billion CFA francs, according to figures presented during the meeting. More than 700 billion CFA francs went to small producers, and around 1.5 million people depend on rubber cultivation in the country.<\/p>\n
The government now aims to increase the local production of tires, gloves, seals, and other finished products in order to retain more value within Ivorian territory. The sector must also strengthen the traceability of its plantations before the implementation, on December 30, 2026, of the European regulation on products associated with deforestation for large and medium-sized operators.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
