The Archdiocese of Abidjan launched CATHO+ and CATHO SCHOOL on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the Ivorian economic capital. The two free applications are now being deployed on a pilot basis in eleven parishes and nine Catholic schools.<\/p>\n
CATHO+ allows the faithful to make offerings, pay the church tax, or make donations via mobile money with the issuance of an official receipt. The application also provides access to parish schedules and news, the history of contributions, as well as the submission of mass intentions.<\/p>\n
CATHO SCHOOL is dedicated to the relationship between schools and families. Parents can consult tuition deadlines, pay fees in installments, receive their receipts, report an absence, and schedule appointments with teachers.<\/p>\n
The technical launch took place on October 24 at the auditorium of Saint Paul Cathedral in Plateau, under the authority of Cardinal Ignace Bessi Dogbo, Archbishop of Abidjan. The applications were then presented to the public the following day after a mass at the Notre-Dame de l\u2019Incarnation parish in Riviera Palmeraie.<\/p>\n
The system is set to operate during a six-month pilot phase. QR codes for the 126 parish entities of the Archdiocese have already been generated and tested, while the extension to the 115 entities not yet participating in the trial will depend on technical capabilities and team training.<\/p>\n
Cardinal Ignace Bessi Dogbo stated that digital tools should facilitate procedures without replacing the parish, the priest, the catechist, or the teacher. The Diocesan Economat also presents dematerialization as a means to improve the traceability of payments, with each transaction resulting in a receipt and a record at the parish level.<\/p>\n
An information and awareness campaign begins this Monday, October 26, and is scheduled to continue until November 22, followed by a reduced operation until December 20.
