The Senate of Côte d’Ivoire is set to open its second ordinary session of the year on Monday, October 12, at 10 a.m. at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research in Yamoussoukro, according to the official agenda of the Upper House.

The solemn plenary session will be led by the President of the Senate, Kandia Camara. It marks the resumption of proceedings in session following the closure, on June 19, of the first parliamentary activity period of 2026.

The opening takes place in accordance with the constitutional schedule governing the ordinary session of Parliament. For the Senate, this year-end period is expected to continue until December and allow for the examination of the bills submitted to the Upper House.

At the closing of the previous session, Kandia Camara indicated that the senators had adopted 17 bills. The institution had also devoted part of its activities to issues of urban sanitation, climate risk prevention, and parliamentary cooperation.

The National Assembly opened its own second ordinary session on October 1. Its president, Patrick Achi, then announced that the deputies would examine several bills as well as the state budget project. The Senate is now beginning its sequence according to its own schedule.

The start of the term coincides with a certification training dedicated to legislative engineering. After an initial remote phase, an immersion is scheduled from October 12 to 15 at the Senate premises in Yamoussoukro for elected officials, parliamentary staff, and other participants.

The institution’s headquarters are located in Yamoussoukro, while its chamber is housed within the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation. Kandia Camara has presided over the Senate’s second legislature since October 2023.
