The African Peoples Party–Ivory Coast (PPA-CI) launched on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Gonzagueville in the Port-Bouët district, the campaign to roll out Laurent Gbagbo’s social pact. Teams are to present his proposals in local communities and gather the concerns of residents.

Sébastien Dano Djédjé, who represented the party president, announced the launch of the campaign on Ivorian territory and in the diaspora. The ceremony brought together activists, representatives of political parties, and civil society organizations.

The initiative relies on ambassadors tasked with visiting villages and neighborhoods. They must listen to the residents and relay their proposals to contribute to the working documents of the pact. The party presents this consultation as an open process extending beyond its own members.

Jean-Gervais Tchéidé, General Commissioner of the social pact, detailed its seven pillars. Purchasing power and the high cost of living constitute a separate section, as do youth employment and entrepreneurship. The program also includes a pillar dedicated to women and the family.

The other pillars focus on democracy, social justice and public services; human rights and the protection of citizens; decentralization and local development; and finally, national reconciliation. According to the general commissioner, these themes reflect the guidelines of the program prepared for the 2025 presidential election.

The initiative was presented by Laurent Gbagbo during a press conference on July 2 in Cocody. The former president then described a project aimed notably at young people seeking employment and at farmers. At the meeting on October 10, Jean-Gervais Tchéidé summarized this approach with the phrase: “The presidential seat must not be our only goal.”

The deployment ceremony was initially scheduled for September 19. A statement from the general commissioner’s office, dated September 17 and relayed by Yeclo, announced its postponement to October 10, at the Terre Rouge field in Gonzagueville.

For the local meetings, Dano Djédjé asked the PPA-CI local structures to welcome and support the teams. He specifically entrusted this support role to the Women’s League and the Youth League.
