Ivory Coast aims to take a new step in the right of access to public information, moving from its legal recognition to mechanisms that allow citizens, media, and administrations to access it more easily and to reuse it.<\/p>\n
This direction is at the heart of the Public Access to Information Days (JDAIP) 2026, held in Abidjan from September 24 to 28 under the theme “Communication, media, and access to information: the new challenges of public action.”<\/p>\n
The Chairwoman of the Commission for Access to Public Interest Information and Public Documents (CAIDP), Anne Marie Konan Payne, stated that several projects are already underway. These notably concern the public documents framework, their organization and traceability, the training of information officers, and the assessment of the informational maturity of institutions.<\/p>\n
The program also covers the opening and reuse of data as well as the rules governing the communicability of documents. The objective is to adapt the right of access to information to digital transformations and new uses of public data.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Communication, Amadou Coulibaly, advocated a conception of information as a resource for public action, useful for decision-making, coordination between services, and the State\u2019s ability to account for its actions.<\/p>\n
