Ivory Coast and the African Development Bank have launched a new investment phase of 24 million dollars aimed at strengthening climate resilience and restoring degraded forest landscapes.<\/p>\n
The launch took place on September 16, 2026, in Bouak\u00e9. This new phase is part of the ongoing Forest Investment Program implemented in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire for several years with the support of international partners.<\/p>\n
The funding must support actions for the restoration of forest landscapes, agroforestry, and the improvement of the resilience of rural communities to the effects of climate change. The objective is also to reduce pressure on forests while maintaining viable economic activities for populations dependent on natural resources.<\/p>\n
Ivory Coast has lost a significant portion of its forest cover over the past decades due to the combined effects of agricultural expansion, logging, and land pressure. Restoration programs now aim to combine conservation, agricultural production, and local income.<\/p>\n
The country already has a national REDD+ strategy and a forest monitoring system developed with the support of several partners. The new funding is intended to extend the investments made within this framework and to consolidate the achievements of the previous phases of the Forest Investment Program.<\/p>\n
