Burkina Faso\u2019s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean-Emmanuel Ou\u00e9draogo, officially launched a new national industrial facility on Tuesday dedicated to the production of animal feed, the Prime Minister\u2019s Office announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a daily production capacity of 100 tons, the facility aims to meet the growing demand among livestock and fish farmers for animal feed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the inauguration ceremony, the head of government emphasized that feed supply remains one of the weakest links in the country’s livestock value chain. \u201cStakeholders in the sector not only suffer from a shortage of feed but also from high costs, which affects the competitiveness of their production,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative is part of the national strategy to develop the agropastoral sector, seen as a key driver of economic growth. According to the FAO, livestock accounts for nearly 86% of the active population in Burkina Faso and ranks as the second-largest contributor to agricultural value added, just behind cotton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
