Gregg Popovich has officially stepped down from his role as head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, the team announced on Friday. The 76-year-old, who suffered a stroke in November 2024 and had not coached since October 31, will now serve as the franchise\u2019s president of basketball operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile my love and passion for the game remain strong, I\u2019ve decided the time is right to step away from coaching,\u201d Popovich said in a statement released by the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Popovich leaves behind a legendary legacy: 1,422 regular-season wins and five NBA championships, ranking him third all-time behind Phil Jackson (11 titles) and Red Auerbach (9).
