Burkina Faso\u2019s Defense and Security Forces recently carried out an operation in Solenzo, in the Boucle du Mouhoun region (West), to rescue 305 individuals held hostage by terrorists, according to a report aired Saturday evening by Radiodiffusion T\u00e9l\u00e9vision du Burkina (RTB, the national broadcaster).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to RTB, the 305 people\u2014mainly family members\u2014were being held in a forest in the Boucle du Mouhoun region and used as \u201chuman shields\u201d by the terrorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following their release, the former hostages were transferred to Ouagadougou to receive medical and social assistance, said government spokesperson Pingdwend\u00e9 Gilbert Ou\u00e9draogo, who visited them along with an official delegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Ministry of Health has mobilized a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, to provide care. Some of them are suffering from malaria, malnutrition, and psychological trauma. All are currently receiving appropriate treatment,\u201d Ou\u00e9draogo explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
