The world’s oldest known person, Sister Inah Canabarro Lucas—a Brazilian Catholic nun and passionate football supporter—has passed away at the age of 116, according to the BBC.

Born on June 8, 1908, in southern Brazil, Sister Inah entered religious life in her early twenties and dedicated much of her life to teaching Portuguese and mathematics. Despite her religious commitments, she was an ardent fan of Sport Club Internacional, the football team based in Porto Alegre.

Every year on her birthday, Sister Inah celebrated with a cake shaped like her favorite team’s stadium. She proudly owned a vast collection of Internacional scarves, jerseys, and pillows bearing the club’s crest. On her 116th birthday, she was photographed wearing the team’s iconic scarf.

Her family shared that she remained active and cheerful until her final days. “She loved waking up, eating, praying, and going to bed at the same time every day,” said her nephew. She reportedly had no serious health conditions—her body had simply slowed down and stopped.

Sport Club Internacional paid tribute to her in a heartfelt message on social media, saying they were “deeply saddened” by her passing and remembered her for her “kindness, faith, and unwavering love for the team.”
