Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has stated that the Ballon d’Or once obsessed him. The Egyptian forward is in contention for this year’s individual award.

Despite Liverpool’s early exit from the Champions League, Mohamed Salah remains one of the favorites to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or. A key player this season, the Egyptian forward was instrumental in the Reds’ triumph, as they won the Premier League. Impressive stats that lead the Pharaoh to believe he has a better chance of winning this year’s prestigious individual award.

“Before, it [the Ballon d’Or] used to drive me crazy. Some things are not in your hands, so you give up in that direction. I would love to win it one day. But if it doesn’t happen, I don’t know what to do. I’m sure I have a good chance of winning it this year, but we’ll see,” he said on Sky Sports.

Salah had recently expressed his desire to win the Ballon d’Or for his people. The 32-year-old player has scored 33 goals and provided 23 assists in 50 matches across all competitions with the Reds. The Egyptian is expected to compete with Ousmane Dembélé, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal for the coveted trophy.
