Weather alert: Ivory Coast under yellow vigilance from May 16 to 18

Ivory Coast has been placed under yellow weather alert across its entire territory for the period of May 16 to 18, 2025, according to an official advisory issued by national meteorological authorities.

Beginning Friday, May 16, showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in several areas, including Sud-Comoé, the Abidjan District, Grands-Ponts, Gboklè, and San Pedro.

On Saturday, May 17, the alert will focus on the communes of Bingerville and Port-Bouët, as well as the Bounkani, Cavally, Folon, Mé, and Sud-Comoé regions.

For Sunday, May 18, vigilance remains in place for the entire District of Abidjan, along with the Folon, Kabadougou, Cavally, Guémon, Tonkpi, Mé, and Sud-Comoé regions.

This yellow-level alert urges residents to exercise caution due to potential risks posed by heavy rainfall, particularly flooding and traffic disruptions. Authorities are advising the public to stay updated with regular weather bulletins and to take all necessary precautions.
