Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Arsenal can come from behind to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal this week.
The Gunners travel to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, hoping to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, where PSG took a crucial away win.
Despite the narrow loss, Neville is optimistic about Arsenal’s chances. The Sky Sports pundit pointed out PSG’s history of underperforming under pressure in major home fixtures, something he believes Mikel Arteta’s side can exploit.
“I genuinely think Arsenal can do it. I think they can go to PSG and get it done,” Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast. “I’ve been there before with David Beckham to watch Real Madrid play, and I saw [PSG] become nervous.”
Arsenal delivered a lackluster performance in the first leg, particularly in the opening half. To stand a chance of turning things around, they’ll need to show a completely different face in Paris—especially against a PSG side backed by an entire nation.
“It’s a massive game for Arsenal,” Neville added. “It could define their season—and even some of the players’ careers—if they manage to come back and beat PSG. Reaching the Champions League final by knocking out PSG would be an incredible achievement.”
