HomeSportFootballReal Madrid: major setback for Eduardo Camavinga

Eduardo Camavinga was forced off due to injury during Wednesday night’s 1–0 win over Getafe, and the verdict is in: the Real Madrid midfielder has suffered a complete rupture of the tendon in his left adductor.

Real Madrid secured three crucial points in the title race with a hard-fought win over Getafe on Matchday 33. Arda Guler scored the game’s only goal before the half-hour mark, allowing Los Blancos to hold onto second place in the standings, four points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona.

But the victory came at a cost. French international Eduardo Camavinga left the pitch before full time with what was initially suspected to be an adductor or pubic injury. On Thursday, Real Madrid confirmed the extent of the damage—and the news is not good.

“Following tests carried out today by Real Madrid’s medical staff on our player Eduardo Camavinga, he has been diagnosed with a complete rupture of the tendon in his left adductor. His recovery will be monitored,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

Camavinga will miss Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against FC Barcelona, as well as the remainder of the season, including the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Nations League Final Four.
