Mali: The army announces the death of terrorist leader Abou Houzeifa

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have neutralized an important foreign terrorist leader known as Abou Houzeifa, also called Hugo, on Sunday.

In a statement on Monday, the Malian army informed the national and international community that on Sunday, April 28, 2024, the FAMa conducted a large-scale operation in LIPTAKO (area of INDELIMANE), where they neutralized a significant foreign terrorist leader. Identification and gathered evidence confirmed the death of Abou Houzeifa, aka Hugo, a notorious foreign terrorist responsible for numerous atrocities against innocent civilians and attacks on the Armed Forces of ECOWAS countries and foreign forces. The U.S. Department of State had offered a reward of three billion four hundred million (3,400,000,000) CFA francs, equivalent to five million dollars (5,000,000), for his role in the death of American special forces in Tango Tango, Niger, in October 2017.

Additionally, on April 27, 2024, the FAMa intercepted another foreign terrorist suspect in the region of Timbuktu.
