Former Barça captain Lionel Messi congratulated his former club on winning La Liga this season.
The Inter Miami forward reposted a photo from the FC Barcelona official account celebrating the La Liga trophy on Instagram and wrote: “Congratulations.”
Messi left the Catalan club for Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 after his contract expired. During his glorious tenure at the Spanish giant, the Argentine won all titles, both domestic and international.
With this new title, Barça has increased its tally to 28 La Liga titles in the club’s history. Coach Hansi Flick’s team defeated Espanyol 2-0 on the 36th matchday of the Spanish championship to secure the much-coveted trophy.
The Catalan club had already won the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid this season. However, Barcelona failed to win the Champions League, being eliminated in the semifinals by Inter Milan after a completely crazy two-legged tie (3-3, 3-4).
