Ivory Coast: re-elected PDCI-RDA leader Tidjane Thiam thanks supporters for their trust

Following his re-election at the PDCI-RDA’s extraordinary congress, Tidjane Thiam expressed his gratitude to party members and supporters for their unwavering mobilization and commitment, which he described as key to the success of the event. In his message, Thiam emphasized the historical significance of the PDCI in Ivory Coast’s political landscape.

Reinstated as party president after a congress organized in just 72 hours, Thiam viewed the outcome as a show of strength and unity around his leadership. Two years after his first election, he noted with satisfaction that the party’s grassroots still strongly backs him.

He also highlighted the PDCI-RDA’s ability to meet major challenges in a short timeframe, attributing that efficiency to the party’s resilience in the face of adversity. “Ivory Coast without the PDCI does not exist,” he declared, asserting the party’s role as a cornerstone of the nation. Thiam dismissed pessimistic narratives about the party’s supposed decline, pledging to disprove such claims through action.

Responding to criticism, Thiam clarified that his efforts are not driven by personal ambition and that he has never sought to humiliate anyone. What drives him, he said, “is victory,” and no insult, attack, or slander will deter him from fulfilling his mission.
