Several Ivorian opposition parties submitted a joint proposal on Monday, October 5, 2026, to the Ministry of the Interior regarding the future institution responsible for organizing elections, following the dissolution of the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) last May.

The document is notably supported by the PPA-CI, the CAP-CI, the ADCI, and the platform of the High Electoral Council. The PDCI-RDA and the COJEP did not participate in this joint initiative, according to available reports.

Among the main proposals is the creation of a body composed of experts, without representatives from political parties, the government, or public authorities. The proponents of this approach say they want to reduce the suspicions of bias that have long surrounded electoral governance.

The dissolution of the CEI has opened a phase of consultations between the authorities and political actors on the new electoral framework. The government must now review the various contributions submitted to it.

The joint proposal submitted on October 5 is to serve as the basis for discussion in the upcoming consultations on the future Ivorian electoral framework.
