On Thursday, May 15, 2025, upon returning to Ivory Coast, Professor Maurice Kakou Guikahué announced his resignation from his role as Political Adviser to the President of the PDCI-RDA, a position he had held since January 17, 2025.
In a public statement, the former minister explained that his appointment was intended to help restore internal party trust and bolster the PDCI-RDA’s influence. However, he expressed deep frustration at being excluded from key decisions, which he said he often learned about “through the media, like any grassroots member.” He cited the recent resignation of the party’s president as a striking example.
“I have always carried out my duties with loyalty and integrity, without hypocrisy or political calculation,” he declared, while openly criticizing the current methods of governance within the party. He specifically pointed to the organization of the 9th extraordinary congress on May 14, which he says was held “without a President or Congress Bureau.”
In light of these developments, Guikahué announced his immediate withdrawal from his advisory role. However, he reaffirmed his continued commitment to the party’s ideals:
“I remain a committed member of the PDCI-RDA and will continue to fight for its survival. The PDCI-RDA is the soul of Côte d’Ivoire.”
His resignation adds to the ongoing turbulence within one of the country’s oldest and most influential political parties, as it grapples with internal divisions and a shifting political landscape ahead of the 2025 presidential elections.
