The Ivorian government has launched the construction of 420 social housing units in Yamoussoukro, a new initiative aimed at increasing the supply of affordable housing in the political capital.
Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé launched the construction site on October 1. The project is part of the national policy on social and economic housing and is intended to support the urbanization of Yamoussoukro.

The construction of these housing units illustrates the authorities’ commitment to expanding public housing programs to major inland cities, while demand for housing remains particularly strong in urban centers.
The project is expected to engage construction companies and generate jobs during the construction phase. It adds to the initiatives underway in several cities to develop new neighborhoods, improve urban facilities, and facilitate access to ownership or rental housing.
In Yamoussoukro, the challenge is also to support the city’s growth and the development of its administrative, academic, and economic functions.
The government presents housing policy as one of the levers to reduce the housing deficit and improve household living conditions.
