FC San Pedro missed their start to the 2026-2027 Ivorian Ligue 1 season by losing 0-1 to Zoman FC on Sunday, September 27, at the Laurent-Pokou stadium.
Long closed, the match remained goalless throughout the first half and much of the second half. Zoman FC finally broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute through Sodji Romuald.
The Ivorian striker scored the only goal of the match, giving the visitors their first three points of the season. FC San Pedro, runners-up in the previous season, failed to equalize in the final minutes.
This home defeat comes at the end of an already difficult weekend for the other heavyweight of the championship: ASEC Mimosas, the reigning champion, had been beaten 1-0 on Saturday by Yamoussoukro FC.
The first day also saw Bouaké FC and SOA win 2-1, respectively against AFAD Djékanou and Stella d’Adjamé.
