“He’s a machine”: Obafemi Martins picks the GOAT between Messi and Ronaldo

HomeSportFootball"He's a machine": Obafemi Martins picks the GOAT between Messi and Ronaldo

Former Nigerian international Obafemi Martins has named Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest footballer of all time (GOAT), ahead of Lionel Messi.

The former Newcastle United and Inter Milan striker described Ronaldo as a “machine” who continues to score goals even at the age of 40.

Speaking on the Football Fans Tribe podcast, Martins also praised Messi’s humility. “I think I would choose Ronaldo. This guy is a machine. He’s still playing and still scoring goals,” said the ex-Super Eagles forward.

“Playing in so many different countries is extremely tough. People love Messi for his calm demeanor and because they see him as humble. But as a footballer, sometimes you need a bit of arrogance to push yourself beyond your limits,” he added.

Obafemi Martins faced both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo during his career. He came up against the Argentine star during a 2010/2011 Champions League group stage match between Barcelona and Rubin Kazan. He also faced CR7 when the Portuguese forward was at Manchester United and Martins was playing for Newcastle.
