Hajj 2024: Paul Biya Provides a Subsidy of 1,560,000,000 CFA Francs to Cameroonian Pilgrims

Cameroonian President Paul Biya has made a significant gesture towards the pilgrims of his country for the Hajj 2024. He has granted them a subsidy.

Paul Biya, the President of Cameroon, has brought relief to the pilgrims of the 2024 Hajj edition. He has awarded a subsidy to the participants of Hajj 2024. The news was made public the day after the celebration of Ramadan, through a statement by the Minister of Territorial Administration and the President of the National Hajj Commission, Paul Atanga Nji.

According to the document, President Paul Biya “has kindly agreed to provide a supplementary subsidy of one billion five hundred and sixty million (1,560,000,000) CFA francs for Hajj 2024 (…). This financial support will help reduce the cost of the pilgrimage and make the faithful’s stay in the Holy Land more enjoyable,” Paul Atanga Nji said.

“The Head of State has granted Cameroonian pilgrims another special gift: 4,188 jerrycans of 5 liters of the sacred ‘Zam-Zam’ water, which means one jerrycan of 5 liters per pilgrim,” added Paul Atanga Nji.

The ministry continued by specifying that the Head of State’s subsidy will be equitably distributed at the airport before departure to Mecca.

Furthermore, it should be noted that the number of Cameroonian pilgrims for this year’s Hajj has increased compared to the previous year. In total, 4,188 Muslim faithful will participate in this pilgrimage. In contrast, in 2023, the figure was 3,165 pilgrims, so there is an increase of 1,023 pilgrims.
