Nigeria will travel to Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on Friday, June 6, to take on Russia, the football federations of both countries announced.

Nigeria will also be participating in the June international break, which in Africa is dedicated to preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Super Eagles are set to face Russia on June 6 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The Russian Football Union (RFU) confirmed the high-profile friendly on Friday through an official statement on its website.

This will mark the first-ever friendly encounter between Russia and Nigeria. The Russians will also face Belarus in another friendly match in Minsk on Tuesday, June 10.

Before heading to Moscow, the Nigerian team will compete in the Unity Cup tournament in London in May. Eric Chelle’s men will face their longtime rivals, Ghana’s Black Stars, in their opening match on Wednesday, May 28.

The Reggae Boys of Jamaica and the Soca Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago are the other teams participating in the competition.
