United States: One Dead and Several Injured After Ferry Collides with Private Boat

In the United States, a private boat collided with a ferry on Sunday evening in the state of Florida, resulting in one fatality and twelve injuries.

Clearwater police confirmed that one person aboard the ferry, which was carrying over 40 passengers at the time of the accident, lost their life. “All the injured were aboard the ferry. The private boat involved fled the scene after the collision,” the local police stated in a communication published on social media.

Following the crash, the ferry ran aground on a sandbar south of the Memorial Causeway Bridge, and all passengers, including the injured, were safely evacuated.

Additionally, Clearwater police indicated that the investigation would be handled by the United States Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
