Ivorian coach Hamond Chic has revealed to her fans the date of her mother’s funeral. The funeral services will be held in Abidjan and in the village of Bouafla-Natis (Vavoua).

The funeral services for Maman Cathy, mother of the famous Ivorian coach Hamond Chic, will begin on July 8, 2025. The family will receive condolences on July 8 and 9 in Abidjan, followed by a large wake scheduled for July 11 in the Ivorian economic capital.

According to local press reports, the body will then be transferred to the family village, Bouafla-Natis, located in the Vavoua region, on July 18, for burial scheduled the following day.

During an exchange with her followers, Hamond Chic explained that the decision on the burial location was not in her hands. “My sister and I had wanted her to be buried in Abidjan. But we are just children, and it is the family who decides,” she explained.

The death of Maman Cathy, which occurred following a cardiac arrest, was a shock to the coach, who was on a trip to Conakry, Guinea, at the time. Despite her initial wish to organize the funeral at the end of May, Hamond Chic had to comply with the family’s wishes, who considered this timeframe too short.

“It’s hard to wait, but we have to deal with it,” she shared emotionally. She specified that, according to the Guro tradition, funerals usually take place on the weekend, which explains the chosen schedule. “What matters to me is being able to bury my mother with dignity,” added Hamond Chic.
