Mozambique recorded one of the standout results of the second day of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers by defeating Sudan 4-1 on Tuesday, September 29, in Maputo.
The Mambas, held to a 1-1 draw by Senegal in their opening match, thus bring their total to four points and take the lead in Group J following the first matches of the day.
Sudan Cracks After Its Opening Victory
The result represents a serious setback for the Sudanese, who had begun their campaign with a 1-0 victory against Ethiopia. Against Mozambique, they were this time overwhelmed by a particularly effective local attack.
This victory gives Mozambique a favorable position in a group where Senegal has also revived its hopes by beating Ethiopia 1-0. The Lions have four points after their initial draw in Maputo.
After two days, Mozambique and Senegal are thus neck and neck, while Sudan remains at three points and Ethiopia brings up the rear with no points.
