Guinea-Bissau produced one of the biggest surprises of the second day of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers by defeating Nigeria 3-0 on Tuesday, September 29, at the 24-September Stadium in Bissau.
Franculino Djú opened the scoring as early as the 16th minute. Mama Baldé then doubled the lead in the second half before Álvaro Djaló sealed the Djurtus’ victory.
Six out of six for Guinea-Bissau
The Bissau-Guineans had already won 2-0 in Tanzania on the first matchday. With two victories and no goals conceded, they take a significant lead in Group L.
Nigeria, on the other hand, suffers a harsh setback after their 2-1 victory against Madagascar. The Super Eagles remain at three points after two matchdays.
Tanzania and Madagascar drew 1-1 in the other match of the day, further strengthening Guinea-Bissau’s position at the top of the group.
