Long unable to capitalize on their dominance, the Elephants finally found the breakthrough in the 89th minute through Yann Gboho. Mohamed Touré then scored the second goal in added time, in the 95th minute.

The scenario was long frustrating for Hervé Renard’s men, who controlled the ball but were repeatedly stopped by the Somali defensive block. The changes made in the second half ultimately made the difference.
This victory comes after the 2-0 win against Ghana on the first matchday. Ivory Coast therefore has six points out of six in Group C.
Gambia also has six points after its spectacular 4-2 victory in Ghana. The two teams are already gaining a significant lead, while Ghana and Somalia remain without points.
